MINOKE? ~ SANGAKY
VITAL 027 ~ JAPAN ~ Jazz-Rock Fusion

Recorded: 2004 - 2006 Released: 2007

1st album by excellent Japanese ensemble Minoke?Find albums by this artist, who play some of the most invigorating Jazz-Rock I´ve heard in a while. Fronted by wonderful reeds player Kosei KayamaFind albums by this artist, with keyboardist Kunihiko SekidoFind albums by this artist, bassist Yasushi KawaguchiFind albums by this artist and drummer Katsunori TakahashiFind albums by this artist, they play original music, which mixes Jazz, ethnic influences and Avant-Garde improvisation, creating an amazingly coherent and intelligent musical experience. The melodies are very well developed and the improvisations (mostly by Kayama) well structured, with everything falling into place just right. Even if completely obscure in the meantime, the band surely deserves to be heard, as they have so much to say. Jazz buffs should search out this little gem and give it a listen ASAP. Warmly recommended!
