The band also included some of the best Israeli Rock players: guitarist Yehuda EderFind albums by this artist, bassist Alon NadelFind albums by this artist and drummer Dubi KizelsteinFind albums by this artist. This quintet was much rockier than GazozFind albums by this artist, the previous group led by Sanderson / Gov. They recorded only one, self titled, album which was full of superb songs, all written by Sanderson, which are all considered Israeli Rock classics. This new edition brings a remastered version of the original album and a second CD with a previously unavailable live show by the band, recorded at the peek of their career. Lavishly packaged, this is a superb tribute to the great days of Israeli Rock. A must to all fans of Israeli music!

GAZOZ ~ THE 20 HITS (25TH ANNIVERSARY EXPANDED EDITION) HED ARZI 64376 (Barcode: 7293372437694) ~ ISRAEL ~ Classic Rock Recorded: 1979 Released: 2002 Following the collapse of KaveretFind albums by this artist, the iconic Israeli Rock group of the mid-1970s, two key members of the group, vocalist / guitarist and principal songwriter Danny SandersonFind albums by this artist and vocalist Gidi GovFind albums by this artist, established in 1978 a new group called GazozFind albums by this artist, which in many respects was a continuation of the musical direction inspired by Kaveret. The group lasted for just 18 months, but managed to record two classic albums ("GazozFind albums with this title" and "Second IncarnationFind albums with this title"), both in 1979. The group also included the splendid female vocalist Mazi CohenFind albums by this artist and a brass section, which expanded the original Kaveret sound considerably and was quite innovative on the local scene. Sanderson was at the time at his creative peak and managed to write 24 splendid songs, with his usual great sense of melody and a good dash of zany humor. Almost all of these songs were immediate "hits" and were played continuously by the local media; many of them are still played today and remain not only evergreens, but also an important part of the Israeli Rock legacy. This expanded edition adds a second CD of bonus material, which includes some live recordings and the rest of the original tunes recorded by the group, but not included on the original compilation. With the bonus CD this album includes now the entire recorded legacy of the group. Classic stuff and what great fun!

SHEM TOV LEVY ~ BRIBE HED ARZI 15256 (Barcode: 7293372525629) ~ ISRAEL ~ Progressive Rock Recorded: 1987 Released: 1994 This is an excellent album by Israeli flautist / composer Shem Tov LevyFind albums by this artist, who was one of the founders of the local Art-Rock / Prog scene in the early 1970s. It includes ten superb songs composed by Levy, with lyrics also written by him for about half of the songs and with lyrics by Israeli poets´ on the rest. The album was recorded by a fantastic team of musicians, which included the absolute crème de la crème of the Israeli music scene at the time, including guitarists Itzhak KlepterFind albums by this artist (KaveretFind albums by this artist) and Shlomo YdovFind albums by this artist (No NamesFind albums by this artist), bassist Alon OleartchikFind albums by this artist (KaveretFind albums by this artist), singer Mazi CohenFind albums by this artist (PremiereFind albums by this artist, GazozFind albums by this artist) and a bunch of great Jazz players as well. This music lost nothing of its beauty over the years and Israeli music fans will find it delightful, as everything else Levy touches!

With Mazi CohenFind albums by this artist (ex GazozFind albums by this artist) as lead singer, the group was the only Israeli attempt to create a local funk, with Kenner`s wonderful jazzy arrangements. The material is interesting and the performances swinging and funky indeed. A pity this one was largely forgotten, but not by me!
