KAIRON; IRSE! ~ POLYSOMN
SVART 204 (Barcode: 6430077091016) ~ FINLAND ~ Progressive Rock

Recorded: 2019 Released: 2020

This is the fourth album by the Finnish Prog group Kairon; IRSE!Find albums by this artist. The band consists of bassist / vocalist Dmitry MeletFind albums by this artist, drummer Johannes KohalFind albums by this artist, guitarist Niko LehdontieFind albums by this artist and guitarist / bassist / keyboardist Lasse LuhtaFind albums by this artist. The album presents nine original pieces, all co-credited to the group members with lyrics by the group members and Jena HaapaharjuFind albums by this artist.

The music continues the path set by the previous albums, heavily laced with Psychedelia and with traces of Heavy Rock and Ambient and some Jazz oriented improvisations. The group´s originality escapes the accepted stylistic labeling, although the "shoegaze" idiom is commonly used to describe their music, which I personally find quite ridiculous. The group is evidently not trying neither to copy the original Prog sound and attitude, nor the New Prog derivative attempts, and wants to make their own stand, which of course is commendable.

This album marks further change in the group´s sound, which is again mellowed, the Heavy elements appearing only occasionally and the vocals become audible, although still purposely distorted. The melodic content also becomes much clearer and more elaborate.

The fact that Kairon; IRSE! manage to re-invent their music time after time speaks volumes about their ambitious approach to music and a constant need to progress, which after all is the essence of Prog, and basically all music. The music does get a bit loud at times, and the volume knob is there to solve the problem, if it ever arises.

Overall this is obviously worth checking out, especially for the brave-hearted Prog followers, who are ready to try something new and unexpected.– again well done!

KAIRON; IRSE! ~ RUINATION
SVART 071 (Barcode: 6430050669218) ~ FINLAND ~ Progressive Rock

This is the third album by the Finnish Prog group Kairon; IRSE!Find albums by this artist. Saxophonist / clarinetist Andreas HeinoFind albums by this artist appears as guest. The album presents six original pieces, all co-credited to the group members with lyrics by Melet, Luhta and Jena HaapaharjuFind albums by this artist.

This album marks a significant change in the group´s sound, with the group´s "wall of sound" effect mellowed and appearing only from time to time and the vocals become audible, although still purposely distorted. The melodic content also becomes much clearer.

The music still combines Heavy Rock / Psychedelia / Ambient and some Jazz influences and the album again sounds interesting, surprising and unusual, continuing the path set by the two previous releases.

The music does get a bit loud at times, and the volume knob is there to solve the problem, if it ever arises.

Overall this is obviously worth checking out, especially for the brave-hearted Prog followers, who are ready to try something new and unexpected. The group released so far one more album after this one, so there is obviously a consistency and continuity here – well done!
