This is an album by Polish Jazz drummer / composer Adam ZagorskiFind albums by this artist, recorded in a quartet setting with saxophonist Jakub SkowronskiFind albums by this artist and Indonesian keyboardist Kevin SuwandhiFind albums by this artist and bassist Indra GuptaFind albums by this artist. Vocalist Nesia ArdiFind albums by this artist guests on two tracks. The album presents eight tracks, all of which are original compositions by Zagorski. The album was recorded in Bali, Indonesia, and the music is dedicated to the great late Polish Jazz drummer Janusz StefanskiFind albums by this artist, who was my personal friend for many years.

The music is standard mainstream Jazz, based on solid, coherent compositions by the leader. All the musicians perform professionally, as expected. However, the album offers no innovation or anything that takes it beyond countless similar albums, released the world over. I hoped it would introduce some ethnic elements by the Balinese players, but sadly nothing like that happens here.

Overall, this is a solid mainstream Jazz album, well played, but offers nothing beyond the expected. Of course many Jazz lovers might enjoy the music, but I doubt if anybody should find it especially memorable.

Side Note:

The QR Code on the album’s cover allows a download of the full detailed score and instrumental parts for all the compositions, which offers a high educational value for musicians / students. This is an interesting and innovative gesture offered by the composer, which deserves respect and gratitude.
