CEREBUS EFFECT ~ RETURNING TO THE BEGINNING
NOT ON LABEL ~ USA ~ Progressive Rock

Recorded: 2001 - 2002 Released: 2007

This is a reissue of the first two albums (EPs) by US Prog / Fusion band Cerebus EffectFind albums by this artist: "Live At OrionFind albums with this title" and "Dark MatterFind albums with this title". The band, led by guitarist / keyboardist Joseph WalkerFind albums by this artist, includes also bassists Louis ShermanFind albums by this artist (on the first album) and Mike GalwayFind albums by this artist (on the second album) and drummer Patrick GaffneyFind albums by this artist (see also Chaos CodeFind albums by this artist). They play a highly dynamic mixture of Fusion, Avant-Garde improvisations and industrial sound, creating a completely unique musical experience, comparable perhaps to Djam KaretFind albums by this artist but not derivative. This is definitely worth getting into by fans of unusual and adventurous music. Highly recommended!

CHAOS CODE ~ PROPAGANDA
NOT ON LABEL (Barcode: 613285931022) ~ USA ~ Progressive Rock

Recorded: 2004 - 2005 Released: 2005

This is the 3rd album by the excellent US Prog group Chaos CodeFind albums by this artist, which on this album consists of guitarist Cliff PhelpsFind albums by this artist, saxophonist Barry CaudillFind albums by this artist, bassist Gary CurtisFind albums by this artist and drummer Patrick GaffneyFind albums by this artist (see Cerebus EffectFind albums by this artist). They retain the same sound and musical direction of the two superb preceding albums with emphasis on even more complex instrumental parts. They play an incredible "retro" Prog, which sounds as if it was recorded at the peak of the genre in mid-1970s. Superb instrumental work by all the participants and excellent compositions make this a little-known gem of rare quality. The use of flute and brass add additional layers of sound to the overall effect. Those few familiar with the album often suggest that the band displays somewhat Scandinavian feel, like AnglagardFind albums by this artist, but regardless of what this music reminds the listener, it is simply gorgeous. A must to any serious Prog fan!

DELUGE GRANDER ~ AUGUST IN THE URALS
EMKOG 001 (Barcode: 737885500522) ~ USA ~ Progressive Rock

Recorded: 2004 - 2006 Released: 2006

This is the 1st album by the excellent US Prog band Deluge GranderFind albums by this artist, formed by keyboardist Dan BrittonFind albums by this artist and drummer Patrick GaffneyFind albums by this artist, both members of Cerebus EffectFind albums by this artist at the time. Combining forces with several other musicians / guests, with a different lineup on each of the five tracks, they created a milestone achievement, certainly as far as US Prog is concerned. Continuing the Prog tradition from its peak at the mid 1970s, this album has everything that a Prog fan might expect: great melodies, brilliant instrumental improvisations, long tracks (one almost half an hour), in short "pure" Prog heaven. Britton, who also sings the lead vocal parts, composed most of the music, and he certainly can spin a tune. It is altogether a bit over the top perhaps, bigger than life, etc., but any die hard Prog fan is destined to fall for something like this for sure. Those Prog fans that missed it so far should definitely check it out, as they´ll probably love it to bits!
