This is the 5th album by the Polish Jazz bassist / composer / bandleader Franciszek PospieszalskiFind albums by this artist, a prominent young representative of the Pospieszalski musical clan, recorded with his new quartet, which features trumpeter Ignacy WendtFind albums by this artist (another young representative of another musical clan), pianist Piotr AndrzejewskiFind albums by this artist and drummer Patryk DoboszFind albums by this artist. The album presents nine tracks, all of which are original compositions by Pospieszalski. The album offers an excellent sound recording quality and clarity.
Pospieszalski remains faithful to his already established modus operandi, writing and performing contemporary modern Jazz music, based on excellent, melody based compositions, with delicate touches of Avant-Garde inspirations, which offer a coherent and highly rewarding musical experience of deep aesthetic maturity, despite the relatively young age of the leader and the members of his quartet.
Wendt plays some blood-curdling trumpet soli, the highly talented and probably the most experienced musician in this setting, Dobosz, not only supports the quartet steadfastly but offers a remarkable rhythmic imagination, Andrzejewski, the young-comer on the scene, surprises with his sophisticated harmonic touches and clever chord work, and the leader wraps the entire rolling wagon with precise, warm and soft pulsations and occasional imaginative soloing. The entire album swaps the listener off his feet and does not let go as long as the music continues to play.
Overall, this is an excellent album, which offers a perfect reflection of the contemporary young Polish Jazz scene at its very best, which explodes with talent, creativity, vision and clear sense of direction, a true beacon of hope and transition between the generations. Hats off!
