The band exists since the mid-1970s but only now managed to record their debut album. The XXI stands for Mk. 21 (the 21st incarnation of the band), but the album was actually recorded by Mk. 20 & 21. The band is spearheaded by singer / lyricist Kakao FigueiredoFind albums by this artist, backed up by the typical guitar / keyboards / bass / drums instrumentation. The band plays as if the clock stopped smack in the mid-1970s, creating Symphonic Prog similar to the classic bands like YesFind albums by this artist, GenesisFind albums by this artist, etc. Figueiredo has an impressive voice with a wide tonal range and he uses the typical theatrical intonations, taken from the Italian Prog School. The vocals are in Portuguese, but that’s for the best, always preferable to poorly pronounced English. The music is very melodic and includes just five extended tracks, the longest being over 15 minutes. Beautiful instrumental work by all members of the band, with plenty of space for individual showmanship. For lovers of classic Symphonic Prog this is a feast!
