  | ABRAXAS ~ LIVE – IN MEMORIAM KUZNIA 01 (Barcode: 5907729991525) ~ POLAND ~ Progressive Rock Recorded: 2000 Released: 2000
This is the 4th and last album by the marvelous Polish Prog band AbraxasFind albums by this artist, which was definitely the greatest pioneer of the Prog renaissance in the 1990s in their country. Formed and led by the superb vocalist and charismatic leader Adam LassaFind albums by this artist, the band on this album also included guitarist Szymon BrzezinskiFind albums by this artist, keyboardist Marcin BlaszczykFind albums by this artist, bassist Rafal RatajczakFind albums by this artist, drummer Mikolaj MatyskaFind albums by this artist and second (acoustic) guitarist Lukasz SwiechFind albums by this artist. A couple of female backing singers also participate. The concert captured herein was recorded in memory of the Polish radio broadcaster Tomasz BeksinskiFind albums by this artist, perhaps the most significant radio personality in Poland at the time, who promoted exceptional music, including of course the music of Abraxas. His suicide (on Christmas Eve 1999) was a great blow to the many fans, who bestowed his radio programs a cult following. The highly emotional atmosphere of this special concert obviously influenced the musicians tremendously and the performance captured here is absolutely electrifying. The music of Abraxas is highly imaginative and although well set in the Prog tradition, it is completely original. It manages to avoid the triviality and repetitiousness of most Neo-Prog and in retrospect remains one of Poland´s greatest achievement in Rock in general and Prog in particular. Even for people not familiar with the Polish language, this is one hell of a Prog album, almost 80 minutes of unadulterated straight in the gut superb Prog. The recording quality of this live music is one of the best I´ve ever encountered and the gold plated CD reproduces the music wonderfully. An absolute must for any serious Prog fan, anywhere on this planet.
