This is an album by a Jazz trio comprising of German guitarist Arne JansenFind albums by this artist and saxophonist Uwe SteinmetzFind albums by this artist and Swedish bassist Anders JorminFind albums by this artist. The album presents ten tracks, six of which are original compositions, three each by Jansen and Steinmetz, three are arrangements of traditional material and finally is an arrangement by Polish composer Krzysztof KomedaFind albums by this artist.
The music is beautiful, highly melodic and almost completely acoustic Jazz, excellently performed by these experienced musicians. Jormin is of course the most impressive performer and his work with many top Jazz figures over the time earned him a high reputation, with is utterly deserved. But his companions are completely up to par with his class, and both perform without a hitch.
Most of the material is rather low key, which after a while creates a rather gloomy atmosphere, but perhaps it is just my personal impression. The album, despite the fact that only Jormin is Scandinavian, has a distinct Nordic feel and aura, which some Jazz lovers like unconditionally.
Overall, this is an elegant, high class Jazz album, with somewhat somber atmosphere but full of great performances, which should satisfy all lovers of European Jazz, especially those who like the Nordic tinge. Wholeheartedly recommended!
